The Lost Life!

Highway of life is short and sure, interesting!

To be honest, I miss my simple life. I feel lost, sometimes. I miss and remember my childhood days, where small events of life had real deep emotion attached to it. We valued things. Even a simple letter by someone dear meant a lot!! Time is changing at “God knows what speed”, people getting busier, friends and colleagues online, tons of options available for a simple petty thing, value and meaning of things and people and relationships has gone down terribly. Periodically, I find myself to be suffocated with all sorts of things – it seems they pull me towards them and not letting me go! I am not blaming technology but I am blaming people who think they are made for it and not vice versa.

There are incidents in everyone’s life which we remember, get nostalgic about and smile! I can quote some of them which were very common. So, there was a golden era, when people wait for postman delivering letters – which is now refresh your e-mail/wait for your prime orders to reach soon; Waiting for summer holidays to meet cousins was a bliss – which is skype/hangouts/facetime anytime now whichever part of the world you are in; Birthday gifts was a real thing to wait for the entire year & I remember, how me and my brother fought over small toys and things – which is now getting gift cards, each one of us have our personal ipads; That time you want to come to a simple home which was a content kind of a thing – home, which is now a status symbol to let other people know what are you capable of; A simple TV which at max will have some cable channels – which is dude, 50″ LED is a must with unimaginable apps to access!!!! There were no iphones, no laptops but happy satisfied faces. Again, I am not against technology but against the time we devote there. There were no 10,000 social media sites to connect but just telegram, letters, and once in a while, precious photos and there was a peaceful life! Emotions were not social, feelings were not for status but in real. And, the best thing still is not reading online books but talking to your grandparents and asking how was life at that time, could not believe when parents tell stories how they share each simple thing/item among all siblings, how inexpensive each thing was and how they valued that!!!

So finally, after reading many articles, viewing many videos, I have decided to give more time to nature, books, natural souls, myself and life and less time to these addictions!  Hopefully I move forward in achieving that and lead a happy content life!!

Be happy and content with what you have because there is no limit to our desires and luxuries! A simple life is a happy life 🙂

Snow to Sun: A new dawn!!

From the snow kissed land to the desert hot sun, From the tall skyscrapers to dispersed landscapes, From the flock of people to the deserted terrain, Away from friends to unknown faces, From Pine trees to Palm trees, From Bushnell to Pinnacle, From East to West – the move wasn’t easy!

There is a huge difference in surroundings, culture, people, and lifestyle. I had been in East Coast (Connecticut) for more than a year and was fondly in love with the place. Everyone, everything was near and approachable. Being in West, for more than a week, things seems different but definitely positive and supportive! I have started liking the concept of sun kissed skin, hiking trails, and not to forget, hot air balloon rides!!! There is so much to explore…

The move was definitely tedious and emotional but as they say, Life never remain same, Time changes and you need to move ahead accepting things. The west coast adventure shall soon begin!!

Think yourself beautiful.

Well, the grass is always greener on the other side. 9 out of 10 women always see the other woman pretty and beautiful and gorgeous. Well, relax!! No harm in that but It’s time to compliment yourself too!!!

If you ask any woman, When it comes to them, they tell you their problem areas, products doesn’t suit, color doesn’t appeal, size doesn’t fit rather than telling they have such an such appealing feature! Many times we think of our negatives and let us down. The actual root cause is we don’t think ourselves beautiful enough, which is obviously not a true story. Sometimes, We lack confidence and don’t express much therefore do not admire ourselves.

Let’s do a simple exercise. Stand in front of mirror. Look at yourself and think of beautiful assets which make you feel proud n confident about yourself. Feel positive about your skin, personality and think of the toughest time which you fought n stood up straight. Tell yourself that you are Beautiful. Tell yourself that you feel good. That’s the key!!

Take out sometime for yourself. Indulge in any hobby which relaxes you.
Take a home spa. Have a hot cup of tea/coffee. Embrace yourself.
Smile. Compliment yourself. Shopping heals. Read your favorite book. And, most important Think yourself beautiful.

Your positive attitude towards yourself and your life will turn things around and in turn fill your life with colors and You will be a happy soul!

Start now n embrace Life 🙂

Teaching at Blind school : Experience worth sharing!

Life has been unfair to many people. There are some who create problems for themselves and some receive it by fate.  I consider myself lucky enough to be a part of those souls who could not see the beauty of world with their own eyes.

Back in year 2010, I had come across a blind school in Bangalore and decided to be a part of it. The first visit itself was heart wrenching. I could see students struggling with day to day activities like putting things on table, drinking a glass of water, holding a pen was actually inconvenient for them.  But, a thing which bought a smile to my face were their smiles. They were happy,  did not complain and accepted Life as it is!!

After talking to their supervisor, “Computer Science” was the subject given to me. I had to teach 2 students – the basics of computers, microsoft tools, web, internet etc. I met my students just after that – Soham and Vinodh. They were young and excited about the beginning of a new course. We had a wonderful discussion about their lives, family, hometown, likes and dislikes, how do they manage their daily routine for more than an hour or so. That night, trust me, I slept peacefully. There was a sense of solace.

After that, each weekend spent in school was a great learning for me as well. I learnt how to be more patient, how to teach things from basics, how to explain simple things in detail, I learnt Jaws software for the blind and taught them several things in the world of computers. Apart from just classes, we shared breakfast together, celebrated birthdays and had fun. That feeling was beautiful. I never felt more satisfied.

Today, they both work for a well reputed bank in India and when I get their mails, I feel proud of them, their success, their lives and all the attempts and tries that they made in reaching here. I feel so thankful to God for giving me such wonderful opportunity to change lives and help these “differently abled” people to achieve what they desire for.

This post is specially dedicated to Soham and Vinodh for having faith in them, desire to stand on their feet and lead a beautiful life.

I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.—  Jimmy Carter

Demise of my dearest dog :(

My liking for dogs has always been quite keen.
Trust me, I am a dog person but when father told me he got me a 10 day old black lab, I wasn’t too sure how to react. I was not very happy because I always dreamt of a white pom!

That time, I was doing my bachelors away from home and he kept on sending me my dog pictures and asked me for a name by which we can call him. I looked at his pictures – He was really soft and cuddly and a baby ; looked innocent but somehow my feelings did not changed much. I kept on telling him to give him away and get a white pom.

Days passed and he grew and he was favorite among all my family members. I still remember the day I met him for the first time. He barked at me, but then when I gave him his special bone shaped treats he came close, allowed me to touch him and then, almost hugged me. That touched my heart. He wakes me up every morning – sat close to me, constantly looked at me, and waved his tail whenever I smiled. Afternoons passed in playing with him his favorite game – throwing the ball. Whenever I told him anything, he stared and paid attention as if he understood me. Whoever said “Diamonds are a girls best friend” never owned a dog!!! He was happy, contended, excited, hyper alert all the time. He had a small dog room in our house which was decorated with his toys, seat, bed and other dog stuff. He was just like another family member to us.

He was one year n few months old when my parents came to know that he was suffering from a very rare disease which made his body u-shaped after acute vomiting, fever and cold. He could not move from a place to another, he could not eat anything and he would not like anything around him. That was the time, when each one of us travelled home to see him. The disease mainly occurred due to bad vaccination given to him. My dad called his doctor and no one took the blame. We read from internet and found that his disease is incurable. We called several other famous doctors but in vain. Days passed and his condition worsened. He was admitted to the nearby hospital and we knew that he wouldn’t come back home again.

It was a very difficult situation to handle. Everyone was heartbroken. We couldn’t save his life. It was a painful goodbye!

I wish my country should have more medical facilities for animals, in time aid programs, more people should come forward and adopt an animal and help raise funds for the care of street doggies! Yes, we can all make a difference by bringing home a companion for life.

I am waiting for the day when I can have another dog just like him and fill his life with all the happiness, love and care.
